Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A massive fire broke out at the LIC (Life Insurance Corporation) building in Patna early Sunday morning, prompting a major emergency response from fire and rescue teams. The incident occurred around 5:00 AM at the multistorey office near the crowded Exhibition Road intersection, one of the busiest commercial zones in the city.
Thick smoke and flames quickly engulfed the structure, sparking panic among nearby residents and commuters. Several fire tenders arrived at the location within minutes, and firefighters began using hydraulic cranes and water jets to douse the flames. The fire has not been fully controlled yet, and operations remain intense.
Authorities confirmed that rescue teams are combing each floor of the building to check for any trapped individuals. While no casualties have been officially reported so far, officials are not ruling out the possibility of people being stuck inside, especially on upper floors. Emergency response teams remain on high alert.
The area surrounding the LIC building has been cordoned off, and traffic has been diverted to ensure safety. Residents and shopkeepers in the vicinity were also evacuated as a precaution. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials suspect it may have originated from an electrical fault or equipment short-circuit.
As the firefighting operation continues, city authorities have urged people to avoid the Exhibition Road area and allow emergency services to operate without hindrance. More updates are expected once the situation is brought fully under control.
